I launched iRock Résumés out of a desire to help individuals level up their professional brand before launching their job landing campaign. I believe in telling a compelling career story such that recruiters and / or hiring managers are intrigued enough to call you for an interview. And guess what? That is exactly what happens when I work with clients just like you.
My clients always tell me recruiters or hiring managers rave over the career documents I wrote for them. And, their friends and family are pretty impressed too. Hence, I became the go to person for friends and family.
It doesn’t stop there as iRock offers more than just résumés. Recruiters and hiring managers are also impressed with how my clients articulate their career story in an interview using my iRock S.T.A.R. Method (TM). And, for my coaching clients, they love how we get down to the root cause of what they need. We partner together to create ways to overcome and achieve their goals. I use four pillars as a basis for job search and career coaching – clarity, focus, strategy, and launch. It works like magic.
Overall, I love helping serious professionals showcase their best self….on paper, online, and in person. With that comes increased wealth for my clients upwards of 40% of their income. I must say, working with me is a pretty nice return on your investment.
I’ve been in corporate America since 1991 with over 18 years in leadership / management roles. I have experience in insurance claims, marketing, corporate training, sales, and advertising. I have dabbled in several MLMs before finding my “thing”, career and professional branding. I have several insurance designations which are like degrees (those courses were tough!).
I have a Bachelors degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I was accepted into the College of Engineering as a Computer Engineer major. While I excelled in the sciences, I didn’t quite excel in Math. So…. because I always loved Spanish and even studied in Peru, South America as an exchange student, I changed my major to Spanish (si, yo hablo español – well, un poquito as I’m pretty rusty) and double minored in Economics and Business Administration. This explains why I have left and right side brain power. I’m technical and strategic while being creative which is a great combination for a career coach!
I co-authored three books and have two solo books of my own – You’re HIRED! – 10 Tips to Rock Out Your Résumé to Land an Interview and You’re HIRED! – 10 Tips to Rock Out Your Interview to Land Your Dream Job
I serve on two boards: National Résumé Writers Association as Director of Member Support – Military, Career Centers, and Workforce, and Dallas Chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) as the Educational Chair.
And, last but not least, I am a Certified Career Transition Coach (CCTC), Certified Professional Résumé Writer (CPRW), Certified Online Profile Expert, and a Certified Employment Interview Professional (CEIP). I am actively stay abreast of the latest trends for the career services and résumé writing industry.
On a personal note…..
I am a south side Chicago native now residing in North Texas and loving it. Married for over 25 years to a Senior Pastor (yes, I am a First Lady of the church). I have a beautiful daughter, a handsome son, and a grand-dog named BamBam in which I affectionally call myself his “maw-maw”.
I love guacamole and chips and scrapbooking. I’m addicted to Podcasts (I plan to have my own one day). And, I am a bonafide library nerd, always has been and always will be. It’s a place of solitude for me and where I do my best writing.
